Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a naturally occurring thermoplastic polymer commonly used in plastic products. As of now, GF-PET is the most popular polymer among customers and is mainly used for preform injection molding.
So liquid PET performs much better and pressure is more important than temperature when it comes to viscosity. In this case, the fluidity of the melt is often mainly affected by pressure.
Due to its lipid-related nature and hydrophilicity, PET particles are very sensitive to water at high temperatures. Furthermore, due to their presence, PET has a phospholipid-based structure. When moisture content exceeds limits, PET loses molecular weight; the product becomes discolored and brittle.
It needs to be dried at 150℃ for at least four hours before processing, usually at 170℃ for more than three to four hours. Recyclable materials should be no more than 25% and should be thoroughly dried before use.
Hot runner systems have been used in the procurement of preform molds and have proven to be an effective method of reducing initial costs, construction time, and operating costs of trialling, setup, cycle time, maintenance, scrap, and secondary operations. No additional equipment is required. Therefore, most applications will be able to achieve a consistent level of quality. Hot runner hot gate systems or valve gate systems are often specified to produce high performance molding designs. With these types of machines, you get very high injection repeatability, faster cycle times, easy mold operation, and high-quality parts. Well-designed thermal and valve gate systems will often outperform those that are poorly designed. With such a system, smaller mold heights and less power are required, and no external controls or auxiliary power systems are required.
A hot runner system should be considered in almost all PET preform mold purchases because of its overall advantages. To obtain the advantages required for competitive injection molded part production in today's market, valve gate installation should be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. Valve gate systems are superior to hot gate systems because all components are constructed very simply and robustly, starting from a simple design concept with as few parts as possible to provide optimal gate flow control.
